So we conquered our goal to complete the Wilder Trail and to visit all of Laura Ingalls Wilder's homesites. It originally just started with wanting to do the Prairie Days and grew to the whole trail and we did it. Fortunately, a sweet friend was at the end of the trail and invited us to stay. What a GREAT home cooked meal we had and delicious ice cream at Betty Jane HomeMade Candies....yum! Great to share time with friends AND a homey environment to take a rest from the road. On the way out we took in some of the local activities before the rain started. The Fenelon Elevator was quite cool.We would have explored town but it was about to rain. We did stop by the home of President Ulysses S. Grant and really explored Elizabeth's Grand Antique Co. I need to go back when I am not on a travel budget!
Best welcome sign ever!
Just hanging out
We heard about a cool elevator. Hey, we are always up for an adventure! Here we go!
It sure was steep but pretty awesome and great views! You can even ride it down, get off and explore and then ride it back up later and vice versa....or take a one way trip.
Yes, we threw a little history in with the adventure. Pretty cool house and we learned that Mrs Grant is the only 1st lady that has a statue in her honor. What's up with this?!
I believe this is the largest and coolest antique store I have visited to date. It is so clean and organized! The only thing that was kind of crazy was the maze-like setup. You could seriously get lost in this place. However, I actually wouldn't mind getting lost in here!
Who doesn't remember these from the 80's? They made me want to put them on and skate around the store listening to something by Kool and the Gang!
300 West St, Elizabeth, IL 61028
If you are every in town, stop by. It is a great place!
