....And we're off! Where to? We weren't sure but we just drove. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge was really cool to drive along and then under the water through the tunnel. We visited Mr. Nottingham's gravesite and then kept going. We discovered Chincoteague Island at Assateague State Park.
Driving along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It is well worth the $15 each way cost.

We LOVE the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands State Park, http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/grayson-highlands#general_information, so we thought it would be cool to visit wild ponies here as well. Well, they were pretty from afar....
...so we tried to hike out to see them close up. Hmmm....
...this is as close as we got! Again, they were pretty but not exactly what we were used to with the ones at Grayson Highlands.
Almost 2 miles later...we only managed to see the ponies from afar. Perhaps it was the time of day that we were there. We may need to go back and visit earlier or later in the day and MOST definitely when it is cooler AND with insect repellent.
Do you see the ponies?
See the wildlife watching us from behind? Ok, just kidding but I bet there is something watching us...haha!
We did get to enjoy a bit of wildlife on the loop. We could hear the birds chirping, a deer and a bunny...Hoppy :)

The storm was coming in. Time to clear the beach!
Great day on the island!
