Today we were able to pay our respects and to say goodbye to a dear friend! Southey Teagle Nottingham, III was an amazing friend! We met him camping and spent every day during the summer with him for years. He enjoyed joining the "Adventure Girls" for day trips. We were not able to attend his funeral at the time but did visit today and played Amazing Grace, one of his favorite songs, and left him some bright, cheery flowers as he sure didn't brighten our lives.
Something very interesting...if you are not sure what an Atomic Veteran is, click here...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_veteran.
Mr Nottingham was in the Navy and served as a Radioman. When the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki...https://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/09/aug-9-1945-u-s-drops-atomic-bomb-on-nagasaki-japan/...Mr. Nottingham was one of the 1st ones on land to deliver papers. He was exposed to high concentrations of radiation. He survived cancer and a war but in the end, his heart was ready to rest. We miss you, little buddy!
